Eat, Drink & Be Merry Celebrating International No Diet Day 2015 at Cupitt’s Winery

Award-winning Cupitt’s Winery in Ulladulla is encouraging people to swap their diet for delectable fare, by celebrating International No Diet Day on Wednesday 6 May with a feast few will be able to resist – a delicious three-course meal from their a la carte menu for just $65. International No Diet Day celebrates diversity, body acceptance and encourages the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. It champions the measurement of well being in a diverse ways including laughter, learning, rest, play, reflection and socialising.

Cupitt’s Restaurant Manager Libby Cupitt is encouraging everyone to forget the scales and calorie counting for one day, by actively engaging in No Diet Day by enjoying a relaxed meal at the Cupitt’s vineyards, without a guilty conscience. “Society can have an unhealthy preoccupation with dieting, food and weight. We need to shift this mindset to a focus on a healthy lifestyle. For us, International No Diet Day is not about overeating and throwing good food habits out the window – it is about recognising that food is a vehicle for enjoyment. Sharing food with your friends and family is one of life’s greatest pleasures we can take for granted,” Libby says.

Master Trainer at Em PT Ulladulla, and Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine Student, Emily Bingham adds: “Balance is about enjoying each day with the food, activity and lifestyle choices you make, that can be maintained for the rest of your life. Fitness and health is a commitment – it’s a lifestyle choice.”

International No Diet Day raises awareness of the dangers of dieting, and reminds adults they need to be role models for the younger generation who can often feel pressured to be a certain size. At the end of 2012 it was estimated that eating disorders affected nearly one million Australians, with most young people know at least one other young person who they think might have an eating disorder. Dieting is the single most important risk factor for developing an eating disorder.

To book a table at Cupitt’s Winery on No Diet Day, and any other day of the year, please call (02) 4455 7888 or email info@cupitt.com.au. For the latest news and information about Cupitt’s Winery visit www.cupitt.com.au. On the last Saturday of the month Cupitt’s Winery along with the Market Stall Holders will be hosting a fundraiser to help those affected by cancer, you can help by coming along to the market for Morning Trust and participating by purchasing raffle tickets in support of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Want to do more? How about donating prizes for the raffle, get in touch with Libby Cupitt on 44557888 if you would like to participate.

It is estimated that 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. Sharing a social cup of tea and some delicious food, while fundraising, is a simple and fun way to help support the work of Cancer Council.

With one Australian diagnosed with cancer every five minutes, funds raised from the event support Cancer Council’s vital research, prevention and support service programs.
This year, Cancer Council is aiming to raise $13.8 million in donations, and even a small contribution can go a
long way:
$5 – helps Cancer Council reach out to a newly diagnosed cancer patient, with support and information
resources to help them navigate their cancer journey.
$25 – fund resources to support GPs and health professionals advising patients on cancer prevention,
screening and diagnosis.
$50 – ensures a cancer nurse is available on our free, confidential telephone service (13 11 20) to offer
support on all aspects of cancer.
$100 – allows Cancer Council to support childcare centres and primary schools taking part in the National
SunSmart Schools Program.
$500 – helps fund the provision of a telephone and web-based support groups facilitated by trained peer
volunteers and health professionals.
$1000 – brings our ground breaking research into new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
